Dr. B. S. Sahay

Professor B.S. Sahay has taken over as Director, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, India. Prior to joining MDI, he was Directorof Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad, India for over four years. He has transformed IMT Ghaziabad an institute par excellence. For last four years, IMT has been consistently ranked as one of the top ten business school in India. Today IMT is known for academic excellence, quality research, executive development programmes, internationalization and industry interface worldwide. Professor Sahay is also responsible for setting up IMT Dubai and Nagpur Campuses. Before moving to IMT, Professor Sahay served on different positions at MDI includingDean (Research & Consultancy), Chairman- FPM Programme, Chairman – Graduate Prgrammesand Professor ofOperations Management. He was also anAdjunct Professor at School of International Business, Queensland University of Technology, Australia and Founding Chairman of Centre for Supply Chain Management. He was also Principal Coordinator for Quality Improvement Programme in Management, sponsored by All India council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. Under his able leadership, AICTE started Doctoral Programme in Management under QIP Scheme.

Professor Sahay did his B. Tech. from BIT Sindri, M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India. He has visited a number of countries and went to Germany and Japan under Fellowship Programmes. He has over 25 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy, executive training, and industries. He has worked both in India and abroad on various assignments for manufacturing and service industries. His teaching, research and consulting interests include logistics and supply chain management, production and operations management, project management, productivity management and business modelling.

Professor Sahay is on the Editorial Board of eight international journals and many national journals. He was the Founding Editor of International Journal of Value Chain Management and Guest Editor of many international journals.

 

Professor Sahay has carried out 20 sponsored research projectsand 35 consulting assignmentsand published / presented over 135 papers in international/national journals and conferences. He has published six books in the area of Supply Chain Management, World Class Manufacturing and Productivity Management and edited 12 books. His book on Productivity Management was given Escorts Book Award and ISTD National Book Award whereas book on Supply Chain Modelling & Solutions and World Class Manufacturing received ISTD National Book Awards for the outstanding contribution to the understanding of management principles and practices. In token of excellence of his research work he has received and three best paper awards. He is recipient of the Best Director Award, Best Teacher Award, Award of Excellence in Research and Nurturer of Talent Award.

 

Professor Sahay is on the board of Decision Science Institute, USA; All India Management Association and Association of Indian Management Schools. He is on the expert committee/Advisory Board of many universities and organizations. He is member of Decision Science Institute (DSI) USA; Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), USA; and Fellow of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering.
