Mrs. Ranjana Kumar,Central Vigilance Commission
Mrs Ranjana Kumar, was acclaimed by the “Economist”,UK as ‘India’s turn around queen’ and is currently serving as Vigilance Commissioner in Central Vigilance Commission. Dr. Ranjana after her retirement as Chairperson of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) took over as Vigilance Commissioner, CVC. Dr. Kumar is a prominent Indian banker. When the Government of India appointed her as the Chairperson and managing Director of the Indian Bank, she became the first woman to become head of a public sector bank in India. At the time of her appointment, the Indian Bank was saddled with huge losses, and during her tenure she ensured the turnaround of the Indian Bank.
She had begun her banking career in 1966 as a probationary officer in Bank of India, where she served in various capacities. She has been felicitated with various awards as Banker of the Year 2002 Award by Business Standard in June 2003, Best Professional Manager Award for the year 2003 from Financial Express and The Finance & Banking Award 2003 was conferred by Ladies Wing of Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Mumbai.
